I don’t know enough about section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act (isn’t that the Andrew Bolt clause?) to say whether or not Brandis & Abbott are misapplying the concept: But in general terms I think I agree with them here… there _are_ limits to free speech (threats, incitement to violence), but yes, people do have the right to be bigots. You can’t legally impose some form of state-approved right-thinking… now whether or not 18C did or did not do that, I have no comment (as yet)…
