Should we let criminals vote?

Prompted by a [sarcasm] surprisingly emotive [/sarcasm] piece at news.com.au.  Should we let criminals vote?

My view – yes. Why?  It’s an essential check and balance.  You don’t want a government staying in power by figuring out how to declare a section of the community as “criminal.”

Does that make me bad?
